You’ve landed here because you feel stuck. Like there’s no clear path forward

As a counsellor with a master's degree in Applied Neuroscience and a graduate member of the British Psychology Society and British Neuroscience Association (MSc, MBACP, BA(Hons), PgDip, GMBPsS), I am deeply passionate about helping people overcome anxiety. With an understanding of the brain's workings and their impact on emotional well-being, I approach anxiety from a scientific, empathetic, and person-centred perspective. I offer evidence-based strategies tailored to your unique needs, ensuring a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings, develop effective coping mechanisms, and achieve a sense of calm and resilience. Seeing the positive changes in my clients' lives is what drives me every day.

Neuroscience is at the heart of my practice, providing insights into all aspects of anxiety and neurodivergence. By understanding how neural circuits, neurotransmitters, and brain regions like the amygdala and prefrontal cortex contribute to anxiety, I can share research-based techniques that promote neuroplasticity and help you rewire your brain to reduce anxiety responses. Additionally, my knowledge of the stress response system allows me to teach effective coping strategies that regulate physiological reactions. This scientific foundation enables me to offer personalized, evidence-based therapy that addresses both the mind and body, fostering holistic healing and resilience.

Person-centred counselling complements my neuroscience-informed approach by emphasizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine understanding in our therapeutic relationship. This approach creates a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel valued and heard, which is crucial for addressing anxiety.

MY STORY

Nik's Journey

A deep love for psychology and neuroscience has always fueled my journey throughout life. I started my career in the late nineties, working with adults with mental health issues in a clinical setting before pursuing a successful career in the corporate world. I have a passion for understanding how to help people with all aspects of anxiety, however it manifests, whether that be in general life or specifically work-related.

Through leading and supporting teams of high-performing individuals prone to chronic stress, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and burnout, I saw these challenges amplify during the COVID-19 pandemic. I decided to take the bold step of leaving the corporate world to focus solely on supporting others to improve their mental health.

I wanted to return to my academic roots in Psychology and apply my skills to a wider range of individuals. So, I pursued a Master's degree in Applied Neuroscience and trained to become a professional and fully qualified counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Anxiety can be incredibly debilitating, often leaving individuals feeling trapped and unable to function as they normally would. It can paralyse one's ability to make decisions, to perform daily tasks, and engage in social interactions, significantly impacting overall well-being and quality of life.

For many, it may have been a constant presence for many years, so it's essential to tailor the sessions differently for everyone.

At Rewired Brain, I combine my years of professional experience with my passion for neuroscience to offer a unique and compassionate approach to counselling. I'm dedicated to helping others navigate challenges with anxiety and stress and rebalancing their well-being to enjoy their lives once more.

I am keen to ensure we go at the right speed for each client in sessions.

As a trained counsellor, I truly seek to understand each individual's needs and meet them wherever they are on their journey. For some, it may be crippling anxiety stopping them from functioning as they'd like, and for others, it may be finding coping mechanisms to help them improve their daily lives.

I draw on real-life experiences and the latest research in anxiety to build therapeutic relationships with clients and offer practical strategies when needed. This combination of counselling and neuroscience helps create a holistic and supportive environment for clients to move from surviving to thriving. It is the core of who I am as a professional and where my passion lies.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Client AO
Nik has helped me more than I ever imagined possible. I have seen many different counsellors but Nik has helped me to understand why I have been so anxious, what is actually happening in the brain and body and how to start reframing. She is so knowledgeable. My anxiety is so much better and I have my life back. I am eternally grateful and highly recommend seeing her if you have anxiety. I went from not being able to walk to her office to being able to go back to work again. I could not have made this progress without her support and advice.

A huge thank you!
